Beehive Spotlight: Changing Faces 4 Fun

balloon decorations at ETC Baltimore by Changing Faces 4 Fun

You may have already run into the beautiful balloon art of one of ETC’s newest Beehive members if you were at the Haven campus on Thursday, July 28th. Changing Faces 4 Fun left the ETC Haven campus with a lovely gift – an array of balloon palm trees complete with toucans and leaves. There was also a balloon frame set up for picture ops. Each piece was painstakingly twisted together by hand. The decorations made up of hundreds of balloons transported ETC to a tropical experience that night!

Karen Sawyer as Skeeta the Clown

Karen Sawyer, also known as Skeeta the Clown, is the Founder, Creative Director and Lead Artist for Changing Faces. Her credits include: Royal Carribean Cruise Lines-approved, Qualified Teaching Artist for Pennsylvania Council on the Arts in Education Program, International Face & Body Makeup Artist Instructor FABA TV Online Workshop Instructor, Makeup Artistry Graduate from the Von Lee International School of Aesthetics. She is the recipient of multiple awards for her makeup. Changing Faces operates in South Central Pennsylvania and the Baltimore area, and although their headquarters is in Pennsylvania, Changing Faces loves ETC’s coworking space at Haven. Sawyer said, “Thus far, my favorite part about the Beehive is that albeit I’m working alone, I’m not isolated.  Furthermore, I enjoy the professional and friendly atmosphere.”

Changing Faces provides a number of services including but not limited to face painting, body painting, tattooing, Silly Clown Magic Shows, balloon art, caricature art, and prenatal belly painting. “We are a fun and friendly entertainment team that specializes in providing a captivating and exciting experience,” said Sawyer. The goal of Changing Faces is to help people create fun, lasting memories while transforming event spaces into festive atmospheres. And just in case you were wondering, her favorite balloon animal design is a monkey in a tree, and her favorite face paint designs are the “girly ones” like the Princess and Butterfly. Sawyer said, “Since I am a mother of five boys, I would have to say anything that is sparkly and girly would have to be my favorite because I never have the opportunity of practicing those type of designs at home.”
When she’s not entertaining as Skeeta the clown, Sawyer likes to watch movies and dance with friends. She also enjoys live theatre and traveling. Her all time favorite movie is the Sixth Sense and she loves dramatic thrillers. As for traveling, Sawyer loves visiting the Caribbean, especially Jamaica.
